Journal flexible electronics by LG

The time is far prototypes for applications of electronic ink technology coupled to flexible displays. LG Display, a key leader in the field of LCD, we propose an electronic journal as flexible as a sheet of paper, and almost as big as a tabloid newspaper.

Displaying more than respectable dimensions, 25 × 40cm (equivalent to a screen 19 inches) and weighs 130 grams and a thickness of 0.3mm, the flexible screen is announced by LG as the largest electronic newspaper designed to date. To achieve this level of flexibility, the usual glass substrate was replaced by a sheet of metal. Thus the screen can be twisted and rolled in any direction, but it does not seem to be completely folded.

Its light weight makes it a serious rival newspapers in print, the battery life on it seems quite satisfactory: the device uses the resources for change and another page to load images.

For an optimal reading experience, the choice of display has moved towards electronic ink, which greatly increases the contrast ratio in ambient light and reduces eye strain (since the electronic ink does not require a backlight ).

Environmental beliefs give us hope that the democratization of this type of electronic journals may have a significant impact on the excessive consumption of paper (and thus massive deforestation).

    Hello,
I m'interresse this technology, is there a special relationship to France to discuss a project?

    Hello,

To our knowledge we are the only ones specialized on this subject.

    Maybe can we help you?

Why all those who invent technologies that will compete with the paper (they both are), feel compelled to denigrate him? :

For information which is false: Paper does not destroy the forests, it allows the hand to ensure sustainable forest management, and remove the old trees that release CO2, to replant young trees that absorb CO2 them .

    Interesting point ...!
