It was during the show SID (Society for Information Display) in Los Angeles in May 2008, the manufacturer of LCD panels AU Optronics has introduced its first prototype curved LCD screen (fixed curvature).
This is not a flexible full screen, but LCD technology on the basis of which a curve was obtained.
Specifications:
- Radius (radius): 100 mm
- Materials: rigid glass substrate (such as conventional LCD)
- Backlight system designed for brightness and contrast uniform over the entire curvature of the display surface.
AU Optronics gave a few tracks of applications, including the use multimedia gadgets for pocket or watches.
A version of convex LCD will soon be presented.
